I. EDUCATION BACKGROUND.
a. Advance Diploma in Business and Management (Distinction), Swansea Institute of Higher Education , University of Wales – obtained in 1995
b. Master in Management Asian Institute of Management, Manila Philippines – obtained in 1998.
c. Other Qualification:
Graduate Diploma, Royal College of Defense Studies (Imperial Defense College ), London (joint program with King’s College, London ) – obtained in 2005.
d. Areas of Interests:
(1) In Management: Defense, Training and Human Resources Management.
(2) In Defense and Security Studies: Total Defence, Counter Insurgency and Terrorism.
(3) Leadership and Development.
II. TRAINING/COURSES.
a. Diploma, Malaysian Armed Forces Staff College – obtained in 1992.
b. Diploma, Malaysian Armed Forces Defense College- obtained in 1999.
c. Attended 25 various military and civilian courses in Malaysia , Australia ,
III. PROFESIONAL CAREER.
a. Service Experience :
(1) Held staff, command and training appointments at various levels of command in the Army and Armed Forces.
(2) Appointed as Senior Staff Officer to the Chief of Defence Force from 1st Jan 2001 till 2nd Jul 2001.
b. Academic Experience:
(1) Appointed as Vice Chancellor of the National Defence University of Malaysia from September 2008 to 19 May 2010.
(2) Appointed as Adjunct Professor to the Centre of Business Innovation and Technopreneurship University of Malaysia Perlis for the Academic years of 2010/2011 and 2011/2012.
IV. SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE.
a. Training and Teaching Experiences:
(1) Seconded to the New Zealand Army as teaching staff at Army Training Group and Senior Instructor at New Zealand Army Infantry school 1986 to 1988. Responsible in teaching officers and personnel of the New Zealand Army and other Commonwealth countries in weapons, tactics and counter insurgency warfare.
(2) Teaching staff at Army Management Training Centre, Port Dickson from 1992 to 1993. Providing instruction in management studies to mid-level army officers.
(3) Commanded Army Recruit Training Centre, Port Dickson from 2002 to 2004. Responsible in training approximately 12,000 army recruits per year.
(4) Appointed as Deputy Chief of Army from 21 Mayi 2010 to 14 June 2011
(5) Appointed as Chief of Army from 15 June 2011 until now.
b. Achievements and Experiences:
(1) He was top student on several Military Career courses.
(2) Commander of 7th Infantry Brigade, Johore - won the Army Excellence Award in Management in 2006 and Armed Forces Excellence Award in 2007.
c. Medals and Honours:
(1) Panglima Jasa Negara (PJN) from the HM Yang Di Pertuan Agong in 2011.
(2) Seri Indera Mahkota Pahang (SIMP) from the HRH the Sultan of Pahang.
(3) Pingat Setia Angkatan Tentera (PSAT -2008) from HM Yang Di Pertuan Agong.
(4) Darjah Gemilang Seri Mahkota Kedah Yang Dihormati (DGMK) from the HRH the Sultan of Kedah in 2011.
(5) Dato’ Pahlawan Taming Sari from the HRH the Sultan of Perak 2007.
(6) Panglima Angkatan Tentera from the HM Yang Di Pertuan Agong in 2001.
